How do I register?
Simply give me a call or email and I’ll arrange a time to come and meet you and your dog(s). I’ll bring all the necessary paperwork with me.
How do I book a walk?
Once you are registered, all you need to do is text, email or call to book a walk. Once we have agreed the day, time and duration I will send you an invoice.
Can I book a regular slot?
Absolutely! Please bear in mind that as a sole operator there may be days that I am not available but I try to keep these minimal.
How do I pay?
I prefer payment by bank transfer (details are on the invoice) but will also accept cash or you can pay securely online with a card directly from your invoice. You are welcome to pay for each walk individually, or if you have a regular booking, pay weekly or monthly in advance.
When do I need to pay?
All walks need to be paid for at least 48 hours before the walk, or at the time of booking if it is less than 48 hours between the booking and the walk. Any walks not paid for 48 hours before they are due to take place may be cancelled.
Do you accept same day bookings?
I understand that last minute things crop up and do try and accommodate same day bookings where possible.
How will you access my property?
It is generally easiest if you let me have a key to your property unless you are confident that there will always be someone at home to allow me to access. You can choose to leave a key in my care so it is always available for scheduled walks or if you ever need to request short notice care, or it can be returned after each booking.
How will you keep my key and property safe?
All client keys in my care are stored in a safe when not in use and are never stored or carried with any identifiable information linking them to your address. I am the only person with access to the safe and to client keys. I will only ever enter your property to carry out scheduled activities with your express permission, and will return your key at any point immediately upon request.
I always double check that all doors are locked before leaving the property for the walk and when leaving the property after the walk. I will never put your keys through the letterbox, I will always return the keys to you in person, and will not give them to any other person for any reason.
Where will my dogs be walked?
I try to do all of my dog walking on Kingsmere. If you have a preference where your dogs are walked I am more than happy to comply, but can not currently transport pets except in an emergency.
Will my dogs be walked with other dogs?
Absolutely not. I only walk one owner’s dog(s) at a time.
How many of my dogs will you walk together?
I am happy to walk multiple dogs from the same household at the same time. The maximum number is flexible and depends on the size and temperament of the dogs.
Will you let my dogs off the lead in suitable places?
By default, no. For the safety of your pets I will always keep them on a lead at all times unless you expressly ask in writing that they are let off the lead in suitable places AND I am confident that they will recall and not pose any threat to other animals or members of the public. If both of these conditions are met I will let them off the lead where deemed safe as I understand, especially for certain breeds, the opportunity to run and play is important to their well-being.
What if it’s raining?
I’m immune to bad weather so if you are happy for your dog(s) to be walking in wet weather I am happy to get out there! I’ll always do my best to towel them down and leave them comfortable after an inclement walk. However, I understand that some dogs really don’t enjoy the rain. In these circumstances I can either change the walk to a home visit and let the dog use the garden and then play and keep it company for the allotted walk time, or reschedule the walk to a mutually agreed different time or day at no additional cost. Unfortunately I can not refund a walk that has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
What if it’s very hot?
If it is very hot and sunny, it can be dangerous as well as unpleasant for a dog to be out walking. They can quickly become dehydrated, are in danger of heatstroke and can burn their feet on paving. In such circumstances I can either change the walk to a home visit and let the dog use the garden and keep it company for the allotted walk time, or reschedule the walk to a mutually agreed different time or day at no additional cost. Unfortunately I can not refund a walk that has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
What if I my plans change and I need to cancel?
If you cancel a scheduled walk and give at least 48 hours notice you will receive a full refund. If you cancel with up to 24 hours notice, no refund can be given but you can reschedule the walk to a mutually convenient day at no additional cost. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, no refund or rescheduling is possible.
What do I need to supply?
You will need to supply a suitable harness and lead for each dog, a muzzle if required, any coats or rain protection that you would like you dog to wear and any toys if required. You will also need leave a dog towel available if we are walking in wet weather.
Do I need to supply dog waste bags?
No. I will supply dog waste bags and will always clear up after your dog.
How will I know that you’ve been?
After the walk I will send you a brief message to let you know all is well or to alert you if I have any concerns about any pet for any reason whatsoever. I’ll also send you a GPS map showing exactly where we’ve been and for how long, and most likely a picture or two too. 🙂
Will you feed my dog and/or carry out other pet care when you walk my dog?
I will always ensure that all pets have access to fresh water and I will towel down wet dogs after a walk. If you would like feeding and/or other pet care duties to be carried out you will need to request a pet care visit, which if combined with a dog walk is available at a reduced rate. See here for pricing information.
